This was 2020's Plan for covid.  As of right now, we are planning to be able to go back to field trips but will not know this until closer to summer.  Just know we spend hours upon hours making sure your kid will enjoy their summer!

Thank you for your support and patience as we move forward with camp this summer. We have put together new rules in order to meet STATE and LOCAL health protocols for camp this summer. We have put many hours and talked with lots of people on the best way to have camp things this year, where the kids will be as safe as possible and still have fun. Many changes are to meet the new guidelines. Thanks again and if you have any questions please email or call.

On the first day when you drop your kids off, parents will NOT get out of their car. You will pull up and let your child(ren) out at the front parking lot, this will be marked. When you see our worker standing there you will give them a thumb up as a signal that you have taken the temperature of your camper and they do not have a fever of 100 or greater. They also have shown no signs of illness.

Once your child is dropped off they will be asked to sanitize their hands before they are directed to their sitting area.  **Each child will need to bring a lawn chair with them each day. These will be set up in the parking lot 6 feet away from all other campers. This will act as a visual to show the kids 6 feet, as well as give them an area to sit in the morning as we do check in. This will be their area throughout the day. They will set their lunch and belongings here. Families will be able to sit right next to one another. In the event of rain we will move lunches to another area to stay dry.

Once they are at camp we will help the kids separate into teams. Each camper will be on a team of nine campers for the week. This group of nine will be in a league of one other team. They will compete against this league of two throughout the week. We will make sure they are with people they desire since they will be with this group for the week. This way we will be keeping the kids separated throughout the week.

We will have kids that want to stay with siblings but that will mean they are playing with the older age group)
We will have four leagues going on each day at four separate locations. The locations are: in the shelter, main field, front parking lot and tented area. We will rotate through activities throughout the day. Each rotation equipment will be sanitized between each rotation.  We will also have everyone wash their hands and this will be logged each time they do so.

The kids will wash their hands every hour throughout the day.
We will have staff sanitizing all handles, bathrooms and equipment all throughout the day.

Lunches need to be packed in a lunch box that the kids take home. This is because we are going to ask that all trash be placed back in their lunch box and taken home each night to prevent the spread of germs around trash cans. The kids will be able to eat their lunch spread out outside each day as the safest practice.

We ask that you please place a small hand sanitizer in your child's bag each day that they can use as needed and wanted.

We will have 4-6 Rent a Johns on site depending on the camp numbers. These will be emptied and professionally cleaned by the rental company each week. Our staff will do a daily cleaning at the end of camp. Each league/group will have their own rent a john.

In the event that we will have to move indoors as a group because of bad weather, we will do everything we can to keep the kids spread out. The state has asked that at this time if they cannot be 6 ft apart that they have a mask on. We will not be making kids wear a mask to play or do activities due to the fact that we are outside, the heat, and for communication purposes. If you would like your child to wear one please contact us and let us know.  (Their mask can be anything that covers their nose and mouth, even a shirt tied around their face).

When you drive up to get your child, please have their first and last name on a piece of paper (Large) and hold it up for the staff member to see. Please do not get out of your car as we will have the child come to your car. (Similar to how BW elementary schools do their car line) Before they leave to go home each day each child will be asked to wash their hands/use hand sanitizer again.

Things to remember  We will have smaller group sizes this year and stay in that same group.  There will be hand washing and equipment washing every hour and every time we rotate. All common areas and surfaces will be sanitized all throughout the day. We ask that while your camper is at camp each week to please try and keep them at home each night. If you take them out and about they could bring germs into our camp setting. Please keep your camper away from older family members and people with health issues throughout their camp week and 14 days after to be sure they are healthy. Have your child bring spray sunscreen. This can only be shared among families.

Concession We will have a concession stand at camp each day that you are welcome to send money for. We ask that you put the money in a zip lock bag with the amount written on the bag. When your child purchases a snack they will hand the bag to the counselor and they will place the change back in the bag and write the new total on the bag. This way the kids never touch the money. After they buy their snack they will be asked to sanitize their hands before they are able to eat it.
Kona Ice will also be coming one day. Your child can choose one flavor and the Kona Ice employee will be the one putting on the flavor.

Things your camper needs to bring Lawn chair each day Sign COVID-19 release form online under the registration tab.  You can print this off our website and send it in at drop off.  (This is on our website) Lunch in a lunch box Hand sanitizer for your camper Spray sunscreen Water in a water bottle labeled with their name Trash bag that we will make rain ponchos with the kids for fun  Clothes that are weather appropriate (if it is chilly send a jacket, if we are doing water games dress in swim gear under clothes, wet day maybe older shoes etc.)

Field Trips This will be the biggest change this year. We have been asked to not go on field trips and cannot put large groups of kids on a bus. We will be at the site all day but have come up with activities to bring the fun to us. We have really worked hard in coming up with things that will be fun for the kids, teach them new things, get them active but also allow them to enjoy being kids!

A few examples but not all are: A giant inflatable slip-N-slide Soccer bowling Water gun wars Tie dye camp shirt Kona-Ice Neighborhood scavenger hunts (They will stay with their coach) Many more water games Rock painting Corn hole Frisbee golf and more

Sandlot Scuba At this time we are still trying to come up with a plan for this. We may put together groups on the weekends and this would take parents driving their kids to the pool on the weekend and watching them in their scuba class. This would allow you to see them do this amazing activity, and at the same time allow the kids who were looking forward to it to not miss out. More details will follow. (We were able to offer this the last 3 weeks of the summer!)

WEATHER This will be a huge hurdle for us this year due to not being able to have busses. In the past, we would go to a place indoors so we could still have camp. This year, without busses we will do everything we can to still have camp each day.  If it is a light rain or just rain and warm we will still play outside with the kids. One of my favorite things as a kid was playing in the rain! We will also help show the kids how to make rain ponchos with the trash bags you send on the first day of camp. If a storm would come in and there was any thunder or lightning we would go inside the church right away. This is where the kids would wear the mask and we would try to keep them separated as much as possible. Once the storm is through we will go back to our daily schedule. ***If it is a day of downpours and storms camp may be cancelled for the day, just like a school snow day*** we ask that you check the website each morning to make sure camp is a go. I know this is not ideal but with COVID-19 we have nothing else we can do but to follow the state guidelines to keep everyone safe. There is also a possibility of having a half day instead of cancelling the entire day. If it is just raining all morning we may just have you drop the campers off after lunch, or if it is raining all afternoon have early pick up. Please know, we hope this does not happen, but want to have everyone prepared just in case.
Thank you again! We are committed to you and your kids to provide a fun and safe environment this summer. If you have any questions or concerns please email or call anytime. We know Sandlot will look a lot different this summer, but instead of thinking about wanting to be the same as in recent years, we have decided to look at it as we have been able to really revamp camp for this summer. Again, thank you and have a great and safe summer!
